Konami's Dance Dance Revolution (or simply DDR) is one of the most creative game ideas in the history of arcade games. You actually have to dance, following the game's instructions. You can play with a friend or alone, or even a versus game. DDR provides hours of fun and extensive workout (there's even a weight-loss mode in DDR 3rd MIX).
The object of the game is quite simple: Follow the arrows as closely as possible while you dance to the music. With the astounding visual effects the game provides, DDR is certainly at least a highly enjoyable group activity.

You will see arrows raising to the top of the screen. As the arrow(s) match up with the grey arrows at the top, step on the corresponding panel.

It seems to be easy but it depends on the music speed and rhythm, as you need to step in the panels according to the dance beating.

If you step in the panels correctly (GREATs and PERFECTs), you can perform combos. You can do the max combo possible, that is the total of the song steps. GOODs don't count as combo.

BOOs and MISSes will decrease your energy bar, at the top. Combos will increase it. If you empty it, the game is over.
At the end of the stage you are evaluated and receive a grade. If you failed, you'll receive a nice and beautiful E :)~. Other grades, in ascending order: D, C, B, A, S, SS and SSS. To do SS (also S in 3rd MIX) you need the max combo. To do SSS (only in 3rd MIX and next versions), you need the max PERFECT combo (no GREATs), that's the max score possible in the music. If you can do it, consider yourself addicted. |
